SLSG Elite Earns First Points in WPSL

St. Louis Scott Gallagher Elite S.C. (2-1-0 Midwest South) hosted Ohio Premier Elite (1-1-0 Midwest South) Saturday night in a Midwest match up, it was the first of the season for OP Elite.  In the 41st minute Tessa Gavilsky (Stetson University) was able to convert a through ball from Alyssa Mautz to give Gallagher a 1-0 lead. The lead would stand but not without OP Elite pressing the issue. SLSG's Natalie Kulla would be forced to make several key saves as OP pursued the equalizer, the best being in the 88th minute off of a great effort from Elizabeth Burchenal

On Sunday, SLSG Elite traveled to Indiana to face perennial powerhouse Carmel United (1-1-0 Midwest South) in another Midwest battle.  "I was worried the intensity of the match the night before versus OP and the travel on early Sunday would have a major impact on our girls execution, fortunately I was wrong", said General Manager, Steve Pecher.  After a scoreless first half in which SLSG out shot Carmel 12 - 3, Alyssa Mautz (Texas A&M) and Blake Miller (West Virginia) both found the net within 15 minutes of the start of the second half.  "Great runs from Claire Hulcer (Tulsa) and Maggie Kistner (Virginia) led to the goals, Alyssa and Blake finished perfectly, and overall we (the coaching staff) were really pleased with how the girls responded today" added coach Scott McDoniel.  The match ended at 2-0.

SLSG's next match will be a local rivalry in the making when they face off against the FC Metro Magic, also from St. Louis.  The game will be Saturday June 12 at 11a.m. at the AB Soccer Park in Fenton.
