Easton, Mass. (7-09-09): The Bay State Selects playing inspired ball came back from behind to score a 2 to 2 draw with the Eastern League leading Boston Aztecs. Bay State Selects making a hard push to the playoffs upped their record to 4-4-1 while the Aztecs remained at the top at 7-0-1. Both teams came out strong as they pushed each other hard between the 18's with both teams getting ample opportunities but both defensive sides were up to the task to deny every scoring opportunity. Both goalies, Stephanie Gordon (Selects) and Jessica Clinton (Aztecs) kept the slate clean. Then at the 32nd minute mark, Fabiana received a through ball from Krista McKinnon and she put it past Goalie Gordon to the far post for a 1-0 lead.
"We had some good opportunities right away and when you play a team like the Aztecs, you have to put some away but overall I was very pleased with the way we played and kept our composure." Bay State Select Coach Jim Leaverton
The fireworks started right away in the second half as Select Jenna Roncarati receiving a perfect volley pass from Kristina Cardoso one touched the ball over the outstretched arms of Aztec Goalie Clinton to make the score 1-1 at the 46th minute mark, Roncarati's 2nd goal of the season. Then at the 47 minute mark, Select Emily Milone sent a lead pass to a streaking Jen Leaverton on the left side and Leaverton rocketed a shot past Clinton to give the Selects a 2-1 lead, Leaverton's 7th goal of the season. The score would stay at 2-1 as both teams pressured each other in the attacking zones, then at the 85 minute mark, Aztec Kristin MacDonald slid a shot past Select Goalie Emily Nahas to make the final score 2-2.

Jenna Roncarati was voted the Offensive MVP of the match.
Bay State returns to action for their final regular season match on Tuesday, July 14th vs. New England Mutiny at Stonehill College, in Easton, Mass with a match start time of 6:00pm. The Boston Aztec welcome the Adirondack Lynx Saturday, July 11th at Amesbury Park with a start time of 5:00pm.
